(Context: I'm petsitting a pig who is being kept in poor "pet shop starter kit" conditions)

The owners want Minnie back tomorrow. It really breaks my heart to have to leave her. I mean, I'll be able to see her, but not provide her with the care she deserves until maybe next summer or something.
I can't imagine cramming her back into her pet shop cage, especially after how active she's become. I know how miserable it must be in there and I just can't bear to look at her being in those conditions.

So, I guess I'll be away from the forum for a bit (or forever; who knows). I just wanted to thank you all in helping me give her the best week of her life (well, unless she gets a friend :) ). I'll be sure to refer them to you guys.

It's really upsetting to say goodbye, but I guess I just I can't rescue everyone.

Robin... you have done a wonderful job with Minnie.... you are right, sadly you can't save everyone.... will you be able to show her owners her in your set up before she leaves? Show them the photos of her out and about if you can... I am sorry you have to say goodbye xx

Thank you <3

Yeah, I'm gonna pack her up when she gets to my place (all I really have to do is plop a few things in the cage and put the wire top on). Hopefully she sees that if a cage made for a hamster is better than their current situation they must be doing something wrong.

Good on you for doing what you can to improve her living conditions and make her happy while she has been with you. Sorry she has to go back 'home' now .
Just because you won't be looking after her now, doesn't mean you having to 'leave' this forum though. You can stay around to learn more about piggies and enjoy seeing happy piggies online . Everyone interested in piggie welfare is welcome here, I'm sure! x

Thank you <3

Perhaps it might be more persuasive if you were to avoid saying they had been doing it wrong, and just emphasise the benefits you learned of looking after her your way. Tell her how active Minnie was, the funny popcorns, the different noises , zoomies etc. Did you mention elsewhere that she is a class pet? Those things are more fun for kids to see. It was a learning experience for you and can be for her and the children too.
Good luck!

I didn't mean to tell her she's wrong per say, but hopefully somewhat imply it. I will note to her about how active she was in my cage, though.
Yeah, she's a class pet, good idea!

Just say how much you loved watching her roam about, explore, do popcorns etc! If this is something they have never seen before then it might persuade them to get her a bigger cage! fingers crossed x

You have been brilliant caring for the little girl, bet she’s absolutely loved it and hopefully they can learn something from you and how much happier she’s been! :) x

Hopefully you can help them make some changes to improve Minnies life, or maybe in the future they will let her live with you. You have done an amazing job. Please don't feel that you have to leave the forum, you can learn so much and/or give support to others.
Let us know how things go.x

Update: They're picking her up at 7pm (12am for you guys in the U.K.), so I at least have another two hours with her <3

Oh I hope they take on board what you have done for her. Let us know what happens ...... oh and don't leave the forum! We have enjoyed having you here.

I'd like to stay but I'm not sure what I would do other than browse the game section lol. I don't have the experience to help anyone and I'm not planning on getting piggies any time soon so I don't really have any questions at the minute. I know research can get you somewhere, but it's just not as good as first hand experience IMO.

Don’t feel obliged to leave, I spend a lot of time on here just posting photos and offering whatever advice I have to give, even if you don’t have pigs you’re definitely welcome here!

You’ve done a wonderful job in caring for Minnie.
Hope her owners do pick up some of your tips.
As others have said - you don’t have to leave the forum. It’s about friendship as well as piggies

Such a shame Minnie has to go home :( but you've done an amazing job with her.

As others have said, don't feel like you have to leave. You don't have to have piggies to be a member
