Hello!

Does anyone have any photos of Guinea Pig mites or lice? I am working on a project on these parasites. I am a parasite biologist studying these creatures. I find them fascinating, although I am sure you disagree. Thanking you

Please be aware that the two varieties of mites that are guinea pig specific, trixacarus caviae (mange or selnic mites) and the more harmless chirodiscoides caviae (hay or fur mites; in previous decades also known under the name of static lice) are not generally visible to the naked eye.
Trixacarus burrow their eggs into the skin, but chirodiscoides fix their egg cases to the bum end of the piggies. That looks like somebody has turned a peppermill over them.

You can find a picture of one of my guinea pigs with mange mites with the typical v-shaped balding pattern on the back at the end of the barbering guide: Barbering ( Eating Hair)

I've got some old ones here of (what I think is) running lice I caught in a selloptape sample! Not very good lol, but yours if you want to use them (with credit if published) :)

Thank you 'Merrypigs'! The lice pictures are excellent. However, I do not know your name for correct picture credit.
