Hi everyone

I was just wondering what people's experience with mites/scratching has been!
My long haired pig has really been through it the last month, being neutured, losing his buddy, xrays and ultrasound and bladderstones all at 10 months old so I imagine he's been pretty stressed and unsettled although he's eating fine, popcorning, keeping up his weight, getting lots of attention, frequently cleaned cage but I've noticed he's scratching a fair bit but I've had a thorough look through his hair and can't see anything!
I'm aware as I lost the other piggy ☹️ I'm more anxious and probably watching him more!
I really don't want to stress him out with another vet visit just yet 😩
Thoughts?
Thankyou 😊

I would watch him closely. Sometimes a piggy scratches a bit more on one day and the next day everything is normal again.
If you see him scratching a lot, then I'm afraid he has to see a vet. Piggies are more likely to suffer from mites or ringworm when they had a lot of stress. And once skin/fur parasites take over, the piggies need the right treatment as soon as possible.
Good luck! 🍀🍀🍀

Hey,
First of, I'm sorry for the loss of your other piglet!
Secondly, two of my piggies have had mites in the past but I could see that there was something there as their fur was falling a little and there were tiny black spots when I would stroke them. If you find out that this is what your piggie has, dont worry too much as I applied the medication the vet gave and the issue cleared out very quickly.

I hope that the matter gets resolved soon and please keep us posted
