Mites !

I do daily checks on my pigs and was horrified to find mites in my self black pigs fur i felt very embarrassed can you please gather all information on mites like can they be transmitted to humans i have dealt with it before it went away in a couple of weeks and will i need to treat all my other pigs I'm looking after a male and female as well at the moment who do come into contact with my pigs so stressed as she was given to me by a pet shop with mites a year ago and i got rid of them in two weeks and you can see them running through her dip its so embarrassing she seems prone to the i have tried different hay treated or not she still gets them should i not give her hay? help!

Mange mites you cannot see, so you are either dealing with (running) lice or fur mites/static lice. Skin parasites are species specific; they cannot survive on another species. Please make sure that you have got the right parasite and if in any doubt, see a vet rather than making the problem worse by inadequate home treatment.

Oh dear - I bet you were horrified when you saw this. Well done for doing daily checks . I'm afraid I don't know enough about creepy crawlies to diagnose a problem like this so, if it happened to my piggies, I'd be straight on the phone to make an appointment with the vet.
