Hi all. When I got fuzzy butt out earlier I noticed she had black bits in her fur.Could it be possibly dirt or maybe hay mites?
If the latter would she need to go to the vet or would one of the shop bought products be strong enough?

I would go to the vets for confirmation before treating. Are you sure shes not just been burrowing in hay and has tiny bits off of it through her hair or is she scratching more than normal

I haven't noticed any more scratching than normal and their hay is in a hay rack thing.

It could just be dirt from the hay as you don't see mites with the naked eye but best for the vet to check.

If it is mites, I have been buying xeno 450 online as it's much cheaper. I have also started using the xeno spray as it is easier to dose - 1 squirt per 100g of piggle, whereas with xeno pipettes it's impossible to count the drops and I end up giving them more. My vet was fine about me getting it online rather than through them. We worked out that it is cheaper to give xeno 450 but not the full amount as under 1,200g but it was just too hard to count the drops. Spray is easier and I think cheaper too - Xeno 200 Flea Spray - Pet Drugs Online
