It appears my little moo isn't very interested in veggies is this a bad sign? She really likes carrots but not really anything else. As soon as I put the greens in Mocha is usually all over the peas and lettuce and especially the parsley but moo just takes her carrot to the litter tray and eats it alone =( Will she eventually become more adventerous with the food do you think? Or do some piggies just not like veggies much?

Hi

What else have you tried, I have very fussy piggies! but they will eat red pepper, cucumber and spinach, and also some fruit like grapes and melon.

They refuse most cabbage, broccoli etc

I'm sure there will be something else apart from carrots like she likes :)

I think as she settles in she'll probably try more and more things. My piggies were very cautious about veg to start with, only eating a couple of things and even leaving some of that. They now eat pretty much everything I put in front of them, including in the last day or two Mange Tout!

some pigs take time to adjust, seeing as she was from a petshop and probably a backyard breeder before that they probably didnt give her anything as yummy as veg so it would all be new to her.
Sometimes it can take trying the same veg 10 times for a piggy to like it,so keep on serving her small amounts of different veg repeatedly, try not to overdo the amount though as she will have an upset tummy if you do xxxxxxxxx

Today they had Snap peas, Carrots, Spinach, Romaine Lettuce, Parsley, green pepper.

Yesterday they didn't have Spinach or Green Pepper but they did have Collard Greens. Then today when I was working I was talking to someone from Texas that has lived here for several years and I told him I gave my pigs collard greens and he said he has never seen them for sale in Canada so I told him he could have them and I would get some more haha.

When I first got one of mine she would only eat apple or carrot (probably because that's all she'd been fed in the horrible pet shop we took her from). However we just kept putting other stuff in and over time she grew to like it and became one if the greediest pigs I've ever known!

mine dont like to try new things they stick to the things they love :cucumber, spring cabbage, salad bags.theyll have a nibble of carrot but whenever i offer them new things they refuse to touch them!

Give her time - she's obviously never had veg (or many veg) before.

Once she cottons on to the fact that Mocha has a good time with her fresh food, she'll be all over them! Don't under estimate the "I want what you have" instinct, even if it takes a week or two until she figures it out!

As long as Moo has plenty of hay and pellets, she won't have any chance at becoming malnourished. Running away with a morsel of food is typical behaviour - that way, it can't be taken away by a bigger piggy. Mine do it all the time when I feed them in the living room.

Perhaps you leave the carrot out one night and see what happens?

Good Plan! I won't give them carrots for a few days and see if that helps.

I let my tomatoes ripen on the windowsill for a few days - it makes a difference!
