As much as we're all missing and grieving for our beautiful boy Yoshi 8... we cannot ignore the fact that our little princess Moonpig http://www.flickr.com/photos/48805774@N04/6894065603/
is very lonely and depressed and needs a friend to help her get through this so we're off to The Potteries Guinea Pig Rescue for a date this weekend.
Finger's crossed for her, I really hope she gets on with the date Helen has lined up for her because I don't want her to be on her own or too long, it's heartbreaking. 8...

Yes. Wally Whiskers had a complete turnaround when we took him to Helen for a date ( he'd been going downhill fast after the death of our lovely Mr M ) and he made friends with Rocket ( who is a complete nutter! ). I don't think he'd still be with us if he'd stayed on his own.
Moonpig is clearly depressed which is hardly surprising ( so am I, I do so miss our gentle giant, Yoshi 8... ) I'm hoping we can find her a little girlfriend she gets on with who will take her mind off thngs. x

Well, we went out with one piggie and have come home with two. Olivia is a gorgeous little Himi ( 8 months old ) and VERY shy at the moment, she's hiding under a load of fleecy cushions right now, hopefully she'll pluck up the courage to venture out soon, bless her. Moonpig has definitely perked up. :))

Moonpig has just joined her. :)

Woohooo! That's great news! Go moonpig! x) Looking forward to pics! How was the dating? Was this the first little pig she met or did you try a few?
 
She was the first one, they were immediately eating hay together and then Moonpig started licking her. :)
She needs a bit of time to get used to her new home now, lots of new noises and smells, hopefully she'll settle in fairly soon.

Welcome Olivia! Great that Moonpig adores her stunning new friend; I am sure she'll be happy to show her the ropes over the next few days! There will probably a bit of dominance, too, but it should be minor.

I'm very much looking forward to pics!

Just to pick your brain, did you put Olivia and Moonpig in their living space straight away or leave them for a while ?/
We're dating tomorrow too and getting everything ready here hoping Sally can find her perfect partner/s x)

Well, they'd spent a bit of time together at the rescue in a run on the floor, then an hour in the pet carrier in the car so by the time we'd got home they'd been together for a while and went straight into the cage which had been completely scrubbed and all the fleece etc through a thorough wash so that everything was neutral smelling. Moonpig just went about her business while Olivia hid behind a stack of fleecy cushions. Moonpig has finally decided to join her and now they've both disappeared! ;)
 
Hopefully I'll see a bit more of them tomorrow and get some pigtures for you when Olivia's settled in. x

We have about an hours drive as well and am taking two carriers. The pen will be all ready and 'neutralised' - it will be different for Sally as well as modifying the set up a bit before we leave. Hope she'll be too pre occupied with a little buddy to notice rolleyes
