Hi there! I got my 2 boys in early December last year so this is my first summer with guinea pigs. I've done as much research as I can to keep them cool, I've given them cucumbers and I have put a bottle of water in the fridge for them tomorrow. Is there any other tips that I need to know?

I have a large cage so I have lots of room to put things for them to cool them down. I also have a play pen for them if that would help too? At the moment I use waterbottles for my piggies so I'm not sure if I should swap to water bowls for the next few hot months.

Please leave tips :luv:

This guide below will help you with ideas of how to keep them and the room cool.
Ensure windows are kept shut during the hottest part of the day. A frozen bottle of water or ice packa covered in a tea towel put in the cage will give them somewhere cool to sit if they choose.

Its fine to use drinking water bottles. There is no point in switching to bowls if they won’t use them as their fluid intake will drop. You can try putting both a bowl and a bottle in in but don’t make a total switch to something they aren’t used to.
Refreshing the water regularly throughout the day is important so it is always cool.

Putting them in a playpen won’t necessarily help if they are staying in the same room and the room is already warm. If you have a cooler room in your house, then yes absolutely move them into a playpen in that cooler room.
