I usually just go to walmart and get the 96oz bag of Kaytee natural timothy hay, but I go through it pretty fast. Anddddd the last bag of hay was so dusty the pigs didnt even like it much at all. I'm curious how other people buy hay in the U.S. ( ik this is a UK Guinea pig forum lol ) but usually people order online so it doesnt have to be local. But I was thinking about going to my local feed store and seeing how much it would cost to just buy a whole bale of timothy hay. Also I'm curious as to why Guinea pigs cant eat regular hay? We bale our own it isnt pure Timothy hay. Not saying I'm going to feed it to them of course but I was just wondering :) I've considered using it as bedding like for litter trays but I didnt know because they could end up eating it.

They can eat ‘regular’ hay. Any grass hay is absolutely fine for them (it’s alfalfa they can’t have as it is a legume). Mine get a mixture of meadow hay and Timothy hay.

So what we cut out of the field would be fine for them?
