Hello
Slightly rookie question, but standing in a Pet Store doesn't give you as much honest opinions and experiences as asking on here first does, so I thought it would be worth it.
Been looking on the food reviews on this forum as I'm not happy with how much my new girls are selectively feeding on their meusli, so am on the search for the best food around that is at the right ratio and is best nutritionally. The reviews are great for how popular they are with peoples pigs, but not so much at content and how reliable they are with additives etc.
Is anybody in the know of which nugget food (or meusli if there is an amazing one that my pigs will eat all of) is the most natural and complete for 2 year old healthy pigs?
Thank yoooou :)

Definitely go with nuggets over muesli would be my advice. They might not like you for it initially, but they'll learn to love it!

Personally I use burgess, they come in an original, blackcurrant and oregano, and a sensitive. All of mine like the original, all but one like the blackcurrant ones, and I've not tried the sensitive ones. http://www.burgesspetcare.co.uk/excelfeedingplan/about-the-feeding-plan/tasty-nuggets.html

Other well recommended brands are Science Selective http://www.supremepetfoods.com/product/science-selective-guinea-pig/

and wagg, which I think is now Harringtons? http://www.harringtonspetfood.com/products/UK/guinea-pig-food

Have a look at the top of the "food" section, there's some stickied threads with food reviews of the major brands.

Ok so I got the Burgess Nuggets, and they havent touched a blinking one of them..! I even moulded them into cool little veg and hay balls but theyy're not having any of it. They're just filling themselves up on hay instead lol.
Any suggestions?

Did you try gradually mixing it in with the musli? And which ones of the burgess did you get? :)

Yeah that's exactly what I'm doing and guess what's left in the food bowl every time... :-/

Try the Harringtons Optimum pellets, they are quite small & mine easily transferred from muesli to them, they just get a small sprinkle of the Wagg Crunch mixed in every now & then :)

You can feed any of the decent quality pellet brands - any variety of Burgess, Harrington's (used to be Wagg optimum), Science selective etc.

If possible, switch over slowly.

It can take a while. I found softening the pellets with boiling water (leave to cool) and pop them in the cage works really well, they scoff it, then recognise the same smell on the actual pellets next time :)
