My smallest piggy, Mousey sadly passed away today. I went down this morning to find Mousey very ill. She'd had an abscess removal last Tuesday & all seemed to be going well though she had lost a little of her appetite which can be quite normal after an op & on antibiotics though she hadn’t lost a lot of weight like she did after her cyst removal 15 months ago. She had a check up on Friday & had the stitches removed but last night she was eating even less & was breathing a little different. She seemed to be otherwise OK. When I went down this morning she was breathing in a very laboured way but ate some parsley & lettuce. I gave her her meds & weighed her & her weight was stable. I wasn't happy so rang vets for an appointment which was made for 3.45pm. By lunchtime she was worse so I rang the vets at 1pm to see if I could get her in as an emergency so took her straight down & saw her regular vet at 1.45. She checked her & said it looked like fluid on her lungs & her heart was also very weak. She didn't give her much chance but I asked if anything could be done to save her. She gave her diuretic & steroid injections & I took her back home. When I opened her carrying case she was slumped to one side looking unconscious. She did move a little after that but it was obvious that she was close to the end & she died peacefully about an hour & a half later. I'm really devastated this comes 15 days after losing our dog of over 14 years. Sue & I are both devastated. Mosey was not quite 3 but she has left us with some lovely memories. I will try to get a tribute done soon for the Rainbow Bridge section. Thanks to all who sent well wishes during her recent illness. R.I.P. Mousey, you'll be sadly missed.
