I live in New Jersey and there is a possibility that my mom will be transferred to London... which means we have to move if she does. We aren’t positive if we are going yet, but we are looking. This means I have to go on a plane. I have two pigs. If she does get transferred we don’t know when so they could be anywhere from 5 months to 3 years old. I love them so much and could never leave them behind. I would never forgive myself. What should I do? Can I even bring them on a plane and travel with them? I mean I see people bring babies on planes all the time and they are my babies. This just has me frazzled. Any help is useful especially since this could be happening fairly quickly.

Some airlines will let you bring them as a carry-on. You have to keep them under the seat in front of you the whole time. I'm not sure if any international airlines do it, but I know they do it. Good luck!

Ok thank you! I just read a thread and there was an airline that does allow it. I am so glad that they can travel on a plane

Since you're in the US and this is a UK-based forum, could you clarify on whether you mean London, UK or London, somewhere else?

Basically because it's highly unlikely that a plane coming into the UK will allow animals as carry-on rather than in the hold - to do with UK quarantine laws. Some airlines will let you do so going *out* of the UK, but that's a whole different thing. A lot of people importing animals from the US to the UK do so via mainland Europe - fly to Europe (usually either France or the Netherlands) and then go across in the tunnel or ferry. It's often cheaper/ easier with quarantine laws than direct.

Ok thank you I will definitely look into it. It is the UK we are going to from the US. We always wanted to go to France anyway so maybe we will just stop there

Hello!

As someone said above, they definitely won’t let you fly into the UK with the piggies in the cabin and it is definitely not a good idea to put them in the hold/cargo for that long! So it will be great for you to take the opportunity and see France whilst you have the chance!

You may have to quarantine your guinea pigs for around 4 months to enter the UK/France (but double check on the government websites!)
Once in France you can take the Eurotunnel across to the UK with your piggies (£18 per pet) but only in a car! If you don’t have one you may have to find a ferry company that will accept pets.

We wanted to fly from Portugal to England but the UK is so strict and only allows guide dogs to fly in cabin! So we had to fly to Belgium and drive into the UK, we have made a post on it so there might be some useful information on there for you~
