:( He has the vet tomorrow at 10.45am he keeps sneezing it sounds like sneeze coughing I’m so worried he’s the most placid little thing ever I really hope he is ok, meanwhile Dougall his brother is still being really mean to him, doesn’t let him eat or drink or do much really but he is fine health wise hoping it doesn’t spread to him.

Please keep him in your thoughts.

Fingers firmly crossed!

Have you tried placing a bowl of steaming water next to the cage to help ease the breathing?

Because guinea pigs have such narrow airways and can't breathe through the mouth, any obstruction (even a stuffy nose) is always very audible. any vet will firstly treat for URI (respiratory infection) if he has the least doubt as it can be a killer if not treated. If symptoms persist, then check for hay dust, air fresheners, perfumed products etc. which can cause sneezing.

Thank you for all the info, he lives in the living room so it’s a constant temp but I nev r thought to put some steam near him I just held him in a warm towel and kept checking his nose was dry and his eyes.

The only thing I did do yesterday was give him new hay maybe it was that but he was a mess sneezing and coughing, I’ll still take him this morning and have him thoroughly checked I will take Mr Dougall with him so they aren’t apart. I heard a little click when he was breathing too :( hope he’s ok he really has became in the two weeks we have had him my shadow.

All good wishes for the vets. Sounds like this has come on suddenly and you are getting prompt treatment, which is a good thing. Please let us know how he gets on. And tell Mr Dougal to be kinder to him!

The vet saw him and Dougall, Dougall is fine very tough in build and nature but Mr Arthur has a chest infection and was prescribed 0.3 Baytril x1 daily he was praised for his nature which is so chilled it’s almost unreal.

He goes back a week today for a check up, obligatory vet pic of my boy.

He is gorgeous. I hope that you don’t have too much trouble getting his baytril into him. It tastes vile. Did the vet show you how to get it into his mouth safely?

I'm glad the vet was able to diagnose what was troubling Mr Arthur. Hopefully the baytril does the trick. Oh, and Mr Arthur is totes adorbs.

I’m scared it doesn’t, he mentioned if it’s not away by next week doing more aggressive antibiotic treatment.
