I was pottering around looking for my missing computer/phone lead when Belle started making a bit of a racket. I went over to see what was wrong and Mulan - her baby girl - was BITING Belle's face :o

Belle was obviously very upset and was trying to get away from Mulan who wouldn't leave her alone :(

I'm really worried that they're starting to not get along very well, but I really don't want to have to separate them.

No blood was drawn and they are now happily eating together and they snuggle up together to sleep.

They've been bickering recently; mostly Mulan pushing her mum, but nothing like this :( normally they just wheek really loudly in each others faces while seeing who can hold their head highest....

Is Mulan maybe trying to become the dominant piggy? I would have thought she was a little young at only 2 and a half months....

If I get Belle out without Mulan, Mulan starts to wheek and doesn't seem too happy where as Belle doesn't seem too bothered when Mulan gets a cuddle while she isn't @)

They are in a nero 4 so I don't think space is an issue, but any views are welcome

Kira x

They can be in season at different times - Taffy and Tegan certainly are!

Some sows can be VERY dominant, and it shows quite early on (body size is not necessarily the deciding factor). It can well be that Mulan is trying to take over, especially as she's a little fighter andher mother obviously laid back.

it does look like mulan will be the more dominant pig definitely - I just wish she'd stop picking on her poor mum

Unfortunately, you either have to let them get on with it or separate permanently - it is something they have to sort out amongst themselves. I would only separate if Bella lost weight or looked very depressed.

My Taffy has been beating up her daughter Tegan a few times instead to make sure that she stayed ahead of Tegan in the hierarchy. Tegan has been screaming murder on quite a few occasions (by no means always justified) - it is just her way of showing where her limits of tolerance are, as she is definitely a bit of a drama queen!

thanks for that hun - it's made me worry a lot less
I'm a over worrier :red

It's just the way we are, we here them screaming, and worry. I have two girls who are driving me mad at the moment as well. x

Piggie dominance issues are more upsetting for the owner than they are for the piggies. Pigs are, to personify and help you understand, drama pigs. Absolute divas - and from what I've heard, the girls are worse than the boys with their hormonal mood swings each month!

Trust me, if you should separate them - you will know! There'll be blood and weightloss everywhere.
