Hi all,

Around 2-3 months ago I found two fairly large lumps around the back legs of my piggie. Took her to the vets and turns out they were benign.

But within the last 2 weeks, i’ve discovered more smaller, movable lumps all around her. Mainly on her stomach, and one on her side.

She’s 5 years old, and she’s still acting like a newborn! Whenever I touch/lightly squeeze any of the lumps she doesn’t seem to care at all.

How long does it take for cancer to take over the body? As I said, all lumps are movable and the biggest lump sized around 2/3cm. Please somebody give me advice! Obviously getting her to vets, but Christmas is here at the wrong time for my little piggie :(

Betsy has had a couple of lumps for around 6 months. They have never got any bigger and they don't worry her at all. She doesn't worry about them whenever I touch or squeeze them. The vet isn't particularly worried about them but said he would remove them if I wanted him to. I decided against this course of action as she is still her normal happy self and I would know if they were bothering her. The one on her back near her shoulder blades moves up and down by about an inch a bit like a ganglion. The one at the top of her armpit moves only a bit but it isn't stuck to anything. The largest lump is the one on her back it is around 1cm the one on her armpit is around half a cm.

Thank you for this, your description sounds a lot like Gertrude’s lumps. The one on her side moves by an inch. Thank you again :)

If you are at all worried take her to see your vet. I am only letting you know my experience based on what Betsy has. I am in no way an expert! The lumps that Gertrude has can be completely different to what Betsy has. If I have managed to put your mind a bit at rest then that is good.

I'm not sure whether you've read my post about Kiwi but I'm currently treating her for lymphoma. She has lumps under her chin and arm pits, no change in character.

I strongly suggest you take her for a second opinion as this cancer can spread very quickly if left. I hope they are benine lumps but it's best to get them sampled to see what you're dealing with.

Good luck to you both!

Thank you, we’re going back to the vets very soon.

The vet is pretty sure that Betsy's lumps are cancerous, I have asked him whether he thinks that they are. She has had them both for around 6 months and there are no more that have come up. He said if they were adhering to something he would be more concerned.

She’s been to the vets and he’s said that he isn’t worried about them, they’re quite small and movable. None of her lumps have ever grown in size, and she’s still fine since finding the first one at the end of October! Thank you everyone
