Hi all, aww my mum just rang me to go and have a look at her big lad Colin as he wasnt his normal self, they thought the wind last night had spooked him but today they realise he isnt eating or drinking and his poops are small.

I just went donwn to see him and omg he looks so ill, he looks lethargic, eyes half shut and maybe interested in food but just not touching it, which is so not him hes a food monster.

I just said mum if he was mine i would ring the vets so off theyve popped.

He looked so ill I'm really worried they are going to lose him but i have no idea what it can be. I tried to syringe him some mushed up pellets which he took a little and seemed to chew I'm sure, but the water he just let it sit in his mouth and made no attempt to swallow.

His weight is 1.584 so hes a good weight but his back looks so bony like his backbone is sticking out and all his weight has dropped to the bottom, thats the only way i can describe it.

Please keep your fingers and paws crossed for colinpig hes such a little character.

Sorry to hear this. Keeping Colin in my thoughts, hopefully the vet may have some idea what's going on with him. Poor little lad. Keep us updated and have a big hug x

Fingers firmly crossed for Colin! Apathy and loss of appetite can be symptomatic for a variety of things, but it is usually not good news. :(

he just looked totally fed up, i wish id gone with them now i know they will feel scared by it all and they seem to think i know more but i dont but if it makes them feel more confident i could have done.

thank you all, they are on recovery food syringe feeds and i am on standby! going for my tea now and a well deserved vodka!

Thinking of you all. Paws crossed he gets better and they work out what's wrong quickly

thanks all. It really is a mystery. We wonder if he really was spooked by the major winds on Wed night because they were the worst we have had in a long time, and maybe he jumped and hurt himself or fell and jarred something? i hate it when you have no real explanation. Thanks Helen, thats a good point i will ring her and say that.

Great news! Please continue to weigh him daily so your parents can be sure that he is really eating properly. He's certainly got good care!

I have told mum she has to weigh him every day at the same time so we can compare. I have also told her to get rid of lots of rubbish that he has in his cage treatwise but i doubt it will go, its something we avoid talking about!
