Today while we were preparing the lunchtime veggies for the pigs, my daughter asked if they could eat mung beans (her absolute favorite, which she is desperate to share with her guinea pig too:love:).
I said I wasn't sure, and checked a couple of food lists, but couldn't find them mentioned anywhere.
She did feed one mung bean to her guinea pig and he LOVED it.
Although in fairness he hasn't proven to be a picky eater at all. :D

But before we feed them again I wanted to check here - are they ok for guinea pigs?

:D . They can have fine green beans, but I don't know if mung beans are okay for piggies. If in doubt. leave it out. Maybe someone else can give a definite answer.

I think bean sprouts are ok (they're on the safe food list here) , which as far as I know come from mung beans, which suggests they'd be ok? But not 100% sure!

They can eat the green pods (like French beans), but should not the beans themselves.

Thanks for all of the replies.
I am glad I checked, and we definitely won't feed them again.

One doesn't hurt, but beans are not the right food group (too starchy) for being part of a daily diet. You can feed a French bean daily without problems, though!
