After six very happy years of life and treats, our boy Dibbler snuggled into his favorite fleece blanket and went to sleep in his pen on Wednesday. We got 2 baby 10-week old guinea pigs in 2017 when our landlord wouldn't let us have a dog, and we did not expect the ridiculous amount of love and happiness that could come from two tiny creatures.

They went from the pet store cage they came in, to a big cage, to a rabbit hutch, and eventually their own hutch/run/pen taking up a third of our living room. We poured so much love into our two piggies and it still doesn't seem enough for how much happiness they have always brought us.

He was sent off with his favorite fleece to be cremated with him, and we'll receive his ashes next week.

His brother Ganon seems to be adjusting well. There's no change in his behavior. The pen is just a little quieter, and less messy, which is breaking us. A wonderfully huge personality has been taken from our lives, and we feel completely devastated without him.

We love you Dibby. We always have and always will. And we will miss you forever. Thank you for being ours, being our friend, being Ganon's brother, and for all of the joy, light, and laughter your brought to our lives. Caring for you was the reason I smiled every single day.

So sorry for your loss.
Dibbler had a great life with you and will leave a big hole in your heart.
Be gentle with yourself as you grieve

I am so sorry your beautiful Dibbler had to leave you. He had life full of love and will take that with him to the rainbow bridge. As you are now left with an empty space in your heart try to remember all the happy times he brought you although that will be painful right now. I completely understand the loss you feel as I had to say goodbye to one of my piggies exactly 1 year ago today. Take care x
Sleep in peace Dibbler x 🌈

Thank you everyone for the outpouring of love. I'm so grateful to be surrounded by people who get how hard it is to lose a pet and understand that pets are family. We're doing a little better today and Ganon is still doing well. I was concerned he would start to become depressed once I swept out the pen and changed the fleece and Dibby's scent started to fade, but he seems to be doing well thankfully.

I was so sad after the fact that I didn't have a bit of his fur to hold onto in a keepsake jar. Then when I was washing the fleece I remembered the lint trap catches it all. So now I have a tuft of fur that's a combination of Dibbler's and Ganon's, so I'll always have a little bit of my babies to hold onto to. <3

You all are wonderful. Bless you all and your fur babies. 🌈
