After four weeks of holding on and fighting to his last, Ganon let go today. He was at home with us and we were with him until the end. At almost seven years old, Ganon gave us almost a decade of happiness, love, and laughs. We were able to kiss him and tell him how much we love him and how lucky we are to have had him in our lives. Our first guinea pig, lovingly spoiled, I hope you were as happy as you made us, and I hope you know how much we love you and how everything we did was for your comfort and happiness. I'm sorry we couldn't do more, Ginny-Gan. Thank you for being our baby, and thank you for being Nes's big brother. Thank you for letting us be your parents. I'm so lucky that I got to be your mama.
We love you forever, Ganon. We will always remember you. You and Dibbler will be together forever, and I promise you we will meet again. <3

Very sorry for your loss. 😢 Sleep tight little fella.💕🌈🐾

So sorry you lost your gorgeous Ganon. It certainly sounds like he had a life full of love. Sleep tight little chap 🌈❤️

Sorry for your loss. 7 is a great age, no doubt due to the love and care you gave Ganon. I’m sure he’s reunited now with Dibbler x

Thank you, everyone. I saw Ganon collapse yesterday and sat with him watching him breathe for half an hour until my husband got home from work. When husband got in, I gave him time to sit with Ganon and say goodbye while I stepped away and called the vet for advice on what to do. When I got off the phone, Ganon was gone.

I feel terrible that I wasn't in the room, but I'm grateful I was able to talk to Ganon and kiss him before he passed, and I'm grateful my husband got home in time to see and talk to him too.

A sudden natural death is always somewhat traumatising although it sounds like Ganon's was on the quicker side so he cannot have suffered for long, likely after a heart attack or a stroke. As these things go, it was was one of the kinder ones. Try to take consolation from that and also that you were there, have expressed your love and were trying to do the best you could for him. He could pass away in his familiar surroundings. You have not failed him in way.

Any feelings of failure, guilt or intense soul searching at the start of the grieving process are actually an expression of your love and commitment and not of any shortcomings. You would not experience them if you didn't care. We all have them on here to some degree or other.

Grieving comes with lots of unexpected emotions, twists and turns. When you have never quite experienced it before, it can really throw you. Our Owner's Grieving guide (via the link in my first post) may be helpful in making a bit more sense of it all.

Be kind with yourself in the coming days and give yourself the space to not being OK for a little while. ;)

I’m so sorry Ganon has left for the bridge. He had an amazing life with you and knew just how much he was treasured. Popcorn high over the bridge gorgeous Ganon. Take care ❤️

So sorry for your loss.
Ganon’s great age is a tribute to the love and care you gave him.
Be gentle with yourself as you grieve
