my little baby sow mini keeps coughing every so often, she woke me up at 6 a.m the other morning just coughing on and off for about five minutes and then she just stopped,I hadn't heard her do it again for a day or two.
But yesterday and today I have heard her again, she just coughs and then drinks her water.
She is quite small - when I got her she was 280grams at 7 weeks old,she got a bad fungal infection on her skin and was treated for it.
She has since put on around 200grams and is eating fine, she has no discharge from her nose or eyes and isn't sneezing - she seems really well other than this coughing!
anyone any ideas?

Thanks!x

What bedding are you using for your little one ?/
Is her hay dust free ?
These are the first things I'd eliminate before seeing a Vet - she may need to be checked over for something underlying. Piggies do hide illness very well so in effect, will eat/drink normally etc.

Yes, make sure you've got dust free hay and shavings, and if that's all fine you could always give her a go on newspaper or fleece. Or alternatively pop her to your vets for a bit of baytril.

I use dust free products, its an odd thing - I haven't heard her do it today at all.

I think I will bring her to the vets anyway, she is a very small guinea pig for her age, which is why I bought her.

Thanks again x

Good luck at the vets - glad you aren't taking any chances
