Oh Pepper, where do we begin. You and your brother came from pets at home just as we were going into lockdown, you were a tiny 400g ball of white floof.
You soon started to show your very cheeky personality, although silently as you never wheeked, instead you would put your nose in the air, push your lips up against the side of the cage, and climb up standing on your tippy toes. Even though you were on the smaller side compared to Pringle that didn’t stop you from showing him who was boss, thankfully this only typically happened with the changing of the season!
You got ill back in 2022 a URI that was chronic, you loved your daily dose of Metacam, although your nebuliser that we trialed not so much. Exactly a year later you lost some weight again and off we went to the vets, your teeth this time, we syringe fed you through the night for two weeks and it was very touch and go, you also managed to get a UTI and scared mummy just a bit more but you pulled through, you started eating your favourite nuggets again and maintained your more slender 1.02kg. All was looking up you were your usual cheeky self and off you went on your holiday, you got two hay pokes and had a nibble of poor Anna but you always loved staying at her house and always settled on straight away.
When we picked you up on Saturday I just knew you were not right, you looked in pain and had cold feet, but there you were Sunday morning up begging and I thought maybe this was just a blip. Sunday afternoon came and I find you covered in pee and we spotted the dreaded red blobs in the cage, we already had the vets booked for Pringle on Monday evening and so I felt it best to wait, but deep down I knew your time was coming to an end.
I was up all night checking the Piggie cam to see how you were, sitting in the same spot all night. When it was time for breakfast and you didn’t come out of the house I knew, you didn’t want your corriander, and you hadn’t drank any water in the night, we tried a syringe but you just said no, this was you telling us you were done.
Having spend the whole of July syringe feeding you We didn’t want to put you through it again so the hardest decision was made to let help you over the rainbow.
You passed peacefully in our arms at the vets , Pringle said his goodbye, you were finally at peace your little old man sleepy face looking as beautiful as every.
Pepper we will miss you so much, you were truly one of a kind in your looks and your personality, you were so loved and spoilt and we hope you had the best life with us.
Love
