hmm, so for about a week or so I've noticed Fitz scratching, not loads, originally it would be just a quick scratch when he got out of bed etc so I wasn't sure if it was anything, yet this morning he definitely seemed to be scratching more at breakfast and I saw Roy scratching too.

They don't have any obvious skin irritation or bald spots, they do have some baldness behind the ears but had this when I got them 4 weeks ago from the rescue and I'm not sure if this is just the way they are (Roy is a Rex and Fitz a Merino cross), they had a bath 2 weeks ago as Fitz was a bit gunky round his grease gland and smelt a bit, so I did it with swarfega and washed them both with Johnson's small animal shampoo. Fitz's hair on his back does seem a little shorter than on his sides, but again I haven't had him long enough to know if this is normal or not.

So... what is the most likely cause and what is the best treatment with no clear signs of anything? Any advice welcome, or am I better to see a vet?

Don't know what the scratching could be/treatment but just thought I'd say the baldness behind the ears is normal :)) All piggies have it (Strange eh?) x

thanks, I thought so, I had long haired boys before and it was less obvious on them but quite pronounced on these two as they're fuzzy bums, however I thought it seemed "normal" as the skin isn't irritated or anything

Might be mites, look in health and illness for advice. You will not be able to see them as they are very tiny and burrow into the skin.

I did think about that, but then wondered how they would have got them, I think I'll take Fitz to the vet to put my mind at rest.
