My cage problem

What sort of cage do you want? What sort/size of cage do they have now?
As long as they are the correct size (9 squares rather than 8 squares) then you can buy storage cube grids from places like eBay and amazon to build a c&c cage and it can often be cheaper than buying a ready made cage. A sheet of plastic on the floor rather than Correx etc.

Cages aren’t cheap but they are one of the cheapest parts of looking after guinea pigs. Vet fees and feed cost a lot more over time than the cage does!

You can get correx from sign makers if there’s any near you.
I don’t know the cost though.
Grids and ties can be found on EBay or Amazon.

As @Piggies&buns has said though, vet bills can be high.
My lot set me back several £100s last year and almost wiped out my vet fund.

I got my cages cheaply from my nearest guinea pig rescue. Maybe you could research which is nearest to you and try various animal rescue centres. Good luck

There are sign makers in the US too and they will sell correx for very reasonable price.
There are office supply stores selling grids also.

Another idea is to buy a play pen and give them 24/7 access from the cage, as long as it’s secure. How big is their cage and are they boars or sows?

If you’re going to find it hard to save for (potentially expensive) vet feed, then maybe piggies aren’t the best pet for you.

Sorry you seem struggling in cost of piggies.
I started about 3 years ago and was a bit rushing and bought c+c off the internet and the fastners that hold them.
I now get the same things at piggie fairs for about the tenth of the price. Shop around etc we try and advise you here.
Pls keep.I'm touch we all and you want best for your piggies.

I got a sheet of corrugated plastic from the home depot for $20 and a whole load of wire cube shelving on Facebook market place for $10! My cage is now 4x4.5 feet lol

Another thing you could try doing is to look on Facebook or gumtree? for people who want to get rid of cages, shelving units etc. Or buy the shelving units on amazon. There are some solid frosted ones.

I know my previous response may have come across as rude, that was no my intention. Piggies are lovely but not cheap as people expect.

Hope you find a solution soon.
