So Adaline fell out of the herd once and we thought we would try once more to see if it would work. It did work, she wasn’t attacking anyone like last time. It’s been about a month to a month and a half. But, the herd seems so tense still. She’s really dominant and almost borderline a bully. I’m not sure when or if I should pull her out of the herd. We have been trying to stick it out and see if the tension dissolved but it hasn’t. I feel terrible for my herd as they used to live in great harmony and wonder if I should pull Adaline and try to find her just one friend of her own. Bonus a picture of the girls because they are cute! 9DF2CA04-7CFF-459E-A2E8-9B9C8AA8BA0B.webp

If you have the opportunity to date Adaline, that would be great.

My test is usually an overnight separation - if the bullied piggy or tense group noticeably relaxes or perks up in the absence of a problem piggy, then I know that the stress is impacting and that it would be better to look for an alternative solution.

Sadly not all sows thrive in a group situation. I have learned that lesson, too, during my big group adventure.

Okay I will pull her out tonight and have her stay in our Midwest cage to see if the group becomes more relaxed. There is a rescue that allows guinea pig dating about 2 hours from here so I could look into them. Thank you so much for the help!

Well we have removed Adaline, everyone seems to be doing better. The herd is back to acting normal. Happy and running around. Adaline seems less bothered as well. It looks like it’s time to call it quits on the big herd and find Adaline 1 friend of her own. At least we can say we tried!
