i dont get it this morning she seemed well except for all the weight she lost and now she has died ten mins ago i dont get it its the 6tgh guinea i have lost in 3 months y

How much weight had they lost and over how long? Sometimes weight loss is a sign of something a lot worse which usually needs investigating.
What did the other guinea pigs die of do you know?
I'm sorry for your loss.

I read your other thread and I think that you should stop buying guinea pigs from that pet shop, they are obviously not being bred properly or looked after. It is very hard to see a guinea pig in a petshop who you know you could look after better than they are at the moment but it just encourages the pet shop to breed more.
I am sorry for your loss. :(

could one of the prior guineas have had a contagious disease thats living in the hutch? sorry she died :(

You should monitor their weight and as soon as they've lost like 100-200g, you should get them checked out by your vet. That way you have a quicker diagnosis and the right medication can be subscribed :)) Sorry for your losses 8...

Maybe you could run through your daily routine with the piggies, i.e what you feed them, etc etc etc, there may be something we can help with.

Sorry for your loss.

Yeah, that would be a good idea. It may be a diet problem or something that you're giving them. Always here to help :))

belmont pet store and she lost all her body weight in two days her babys are going good

they have sunflower seeds wheat chaf maize dog bisuicts n fresh veg like broccill carrott ect is that a ok diet my mum made that mix up n chook pellets

I'm no expert but I think dog biscuits contain meat which you can't feed to guinea pigs as they're vegetarians. I'm pretty sure that you shouldn't be feeding them chicken pellets as they have different dietary needs for the guinea pigs.
Is there any reason you're not feeding them guinea pig nuggets? x

They need a good supply of Vitamin C which is in pellets and some veggies. x

From what you have listed, please avoid any type of seeds, dog biscuits, chicken feed, wheat chaff (presuming you quite literally mean the chaff).

You need to give them a good quality hay which should make up 80% if their diet and should be available to them at all times. They will also need proper guinea pig pellets or mix, though most people prefer pellets as it prevents selective feeding, and they will need plenty of fresh veg, with sweet/sugary fruit and veg (i.e. carrot) being given only occasionally.

A very good source for info is guinealynx, including a list of suitable veg etc.

Just an fyi, she's started a thread in the food section. Maybe there's a way to merge the two threads as she's being told twice as many times the foods she's feeding are wrong. :(
