Can anyone help? This morning I noticed a bloody looking scab under Pancakes. I inspected it and it doesn't seem to cause him any pain. I wanted to to see if anyone has dealt with any similar problems before I go back to the vet since Pancakes brother just got over a sickness as well!
Any help is appreciated. ThanksIMG-1395.webp

Ouch! Does he have a cage mate? Is there anything he could have poked it on? Hay or something sharp? I would get to a vet to make sure it's not going to become infected.

I'm no expert but that looks like a bite mark to me. Could you tell us about it's cage mates and hiw they have been together, ages etc

His cage mate is his brother, IROH. we bought them from a pet store, and we weren't planning on it. we just felt so bad we didn't want them to go to someone who wouldn't love them.
Anyways, They are between 7-8 months old. They get along great except for the occasional teeth chattering from IROH (IROH is dominant). The pictured, is PANCAKES, he is the submissive. We cannot separate the two without them freaking out and wheeking like crazy. They even sleep together most nights. This is why we were worried it was something besides a bite. IROH will sometimes mount PANCAKES but it has never gotten to a fight.

If it’s not a bite, it could be the start of a fungal infection which can cause scabs. He could have had a fungal scab that came off? Best to let a vet have a look

Hi! Please have your piggy vet checked. It could be an injury or the beginnings of ringworm. I would only guess a bite if your vet can find evidence for bite marks once they have cleaned and disinfected the wound. It may need an antibiotic.

If the area around it is losing hair and going scabby in the coming days, then you are dealing with ringworm. The most efficient way is to treat with a prescription-only oral fungicide. We have got a ringworm hygiene guide with lost of tips to get on top of it and prevent a return if you need to.

Thanks for the help everyone. I spent my whole day at the office yesterday worried .
This Morning Pancakes DR took a look at him. He stated that this was a trauma wound that was starting to look infected. He prescribed us an Antibiotic to give Pancakes orally 2xs a day. He has a follow up in 10 days.
Again, thank you all so much for your help!
