I have 2 guinea pigs named Hazel and Nut. They both are very loud piggies and they always popcorned. Earlier, I noticed Nut wasn't acting normal. He was usually very loud and would always wheak but I often saw him hide and wasn't in the mood to play. He still eats the hay, pellets, and veggies i give them. I also noticed he was completely ignoring me when I call them for food. Nut usually came running to me when I call them but he doesn't seem to hear me. I need to confirm whether he's deaf or is he just going through a phase? xoxo

Any change in behaviour warrants a vet check.

As hay makes up the largest proportion of their daily food intake and you cannot judge they are eating enough hay by eye, then switch from the normal weekly weight checks to weighing daily (at the same time each day) so you can closer monitor that he is indeed eating enough hay, stepping in with syringe feeding if there are concerning drops in weight beyond normal fluctuations. As veg and pellets are merely snacks, and not the fibre they need to maintain their gut function, eating them does not count if they are not eating enough hay.

Thanks for the advice! Although I think I just overreacted since they started wheaking very loudly now 😅
