I had two boars, only about 6mths old, one got sores, it was sorted with antibiotics and lotion, but then the other one (Tommy) got them really badly, we got antibiotics and cream for him and it seemed to be getting better but the sores were really bad. Tommy seemed okay this morning, he was calling for me and climbing up the run and I smoothed his head, but just now he was lying on his side, gasping for breath and shaking and then he died, it was horrible, he was such a sweet little thing :'(

The other piggy (Nutty) has some sores too, we are treating him but now I'm worried the same will happen to him, and he's calling for Tommy and that is so sad.

Re: My guinea pig just died :'(

Love, am ever so sorry to hear this.

Sending lots of love to you

Re: My guinea pig just died :'(

I'm so sorry for your loss. It's a very difficult time, especially when there is one left pining. I hope Nutty gets better.

Poor little guy! :'( I'm so sorry. I hope Nutty gets better. So sad. :'(

I'm so sorry to hear that - i know exactly how you feel. On Friday night my little Smudge died very suddenly. I had went in to check on the piggie's and i picked Smudge up for a cuddle. There was something not right with him and he just slumped on his side, me and my partner even tried to revive him but he died. I really am so sorry. Hugs to you. RIP little guy :'(

Thank you everyone and sorry about Smudge too (((Hugs)))

I have just told my children (5yrs & 8yrs) - they took it better than I did, I guess that's children for you.

thats so sad what were the sores caused by did you know? kids do seem to take death better then adults we are left a quivering wreck, ( well thats how i would discribe me) and they seem to say oh well unless they are heavily involved in their care God bless little man :'(

i have had a pig that died of diahria (england) and 2 of sunstroke in america :'( now i never feel safe putting my pigs out in the sun! i was young then and i think it scarred me for life :'( you have no idea how much i cried

I'm sorry to hear about your piggie. Has the other one been treated for mites? Mites, if left untreated, can lead to skin sores and then eventually seizures from the pain.

Gosh, I am so sorry to here that. I know how you feel seeing one die in front of you. One died in my arms when I was younger. It really hurts. :'( Get Well Nutty :(

Thats what I was thinking. If the vet only gives you a lotion and some antibiotics for mites, its never gonna get better, and your second piggy might follow the first one quickly..

sorry to hear about your loss :(

awww I'm so sorry to hear of your loss, as for the sores do they bleed at all? it may be an idea to ask your vet about exema, we had a guinea pig when i was younger which had really bad exema which started as sores and it used to bleed as it scratched at them, she used to have regular baths and quite often we would have to take her to the vet about it, i dont think she lived a long life ( i was only about 6 at the time) but my mum did everything she could to help her :)

So sorry to hear that, hope the other gets better. Best and warmest wishes. :'(

I agree - seems that this could be mites, or possibly a fungal skin problem.

Sorry to hear you've lost one, and hope the other one is OK!

Oh my! How did I miss this ?

I'm so sorry to her about your loss :(

RIP lil one!
