My Guinea Pig keeps on choking....

Hi,
My 4, nearly 5 year old male pig keeps on choking - a really hacking cough. He does this when I've picked him up to give him a cuddle, or even when he is just standing there he will start to choke. I'm not sure why he does this, he has a really good diet of unlimited hay, good quality pellets, fresh veg every day and fresh water. He does have long fur so i thought maybe it could be hairballs? I've had him since January when I adopted him. (He was in pretty bad shape). I just wanted to know if anyone knew why he could be choking?

If he is coughing regularly, then he needs to see a vet. If could be a respiratory issue if it is happening all the time
