I have had quite a few guinea pigs die lately and all with similar symptoms.
I got one to the vet on time but the vet could not diagnose & prescribed the below;

- Critical care
- Injection of pain killer
- Injection of fluid

The guinea pig died that night! I now have another sick one with the same symptoms. The vet I went to was a specialist in guinea pigs & rabbits and even they could not help.

SYMPTOMS
- Crusty eyes, watery eyes
- Squealing sounds when patted (most likely pain)
- Stop eating a day or two before death.

I have had 5 guinea pigs die! HELP PLEASE - THIS MIGHT BE CONTAGIOUS!

What contagious diseases are there in guinea pigs with these symptoms?

Crusty eyes sounds to be like a URI (Respitary infection) how was the breathing?

As soon as pig becomes ill and stops eating its important to keep feeding them by syringe or spoon. Critical care or mashed pellets. Water too so they don't become dehydrated.

What has the vet been treating them with? Antibiotic? If so which one?

sounds an odd one, very strange that they seem to be in pain when been stroked.

How has the pigs apearance been? hunches? fluffed up? how about their walking etc. What food have you been giving them?
