There are moments that make pet ownership so perfect.

Having your heavenly creature asleep against your body ... her little warm body pressed into yours, wrapped in a blanket with her little heart beat pulsing into your ribs, is just pure paradise to me.

Pets short lives always slip away too fast, but these are the moments you know you'll always cherish.

So true. I love the sound and feel of them breathing near my ears and the feel of their heartbeat as they relax, their individual scent and the texture of their fur. Precious moments to remember even after they've left us behind.

She's a little miss wrigglebottom asleep and can't shut up even when out for the count... this little chirrupy squeak from the back of her throat as she is dreaming. She stretches her front paws right out and they twitch and flicker with the strain. She yawns and looks up at me then pushes her head as far as she can into my left boob, which seems to be her pillow of choice. And all the time I'm thinking 'how can this little creature - who knows better than anyone all the mistakes I make as a pet owner - still trust me enough to fall asleep on me!?'
