I updated in the health & illness forum yesterday about my ailing little Machete but sadly last night I lost her 8... It was very difficult, I had left the house to get some supplies to try & nurse her back to health, I think she waited for me to leave so I wouldn't have to see her pass away. It was very sad to come home to see her, but she looked peaceful & even though it was very sad, I'm glad she's not feeling pain anymore.

She was with me for 5 years, which I know is good for a piggie. The hardest part is that I lost my oldest one, Chipotle, just a few months ago. Maybe she had a broken heart, they were together since she was a little tiny baby. It's hard to not blame myself for things, I keep thinking if i had fed her more, if i hadn't' tried so hard to keep her warm, if i had paid more attention to her, if i hadn't gone away like i had to just 14 days after she was recovering from the URI...it's hard because she was healthy when I lost Chipotle then after getting a new pig, she got sick. I even quarantined the new one to make sure she wasn't sick, but some how it still happened. I wondered if handling the ones I found before my final pick brought something to home...but it may have been something else too. She had a big mass that appeared to be a cyst but the whole thing was so confusing. I tried so hard to do everything I could, spent money on her at the vets, bought baby food, made up a homemade diet..sat with her & tried to get her to eat & she DID for a little, she wanted to eat.

I know I shouldn't blame myself or over think everything, but it's so hard. I know everyone here understands how hard it can be.

RIP my dear Machete. I know you are up there with Chipotle now & pain free.
Here's my favorite photo of her.

Your piggie is adorable. PLEASE don't blame yourself for anything. From what you have written you did absolutely all you could and much more than lots of folks would. Sometimes things just happen and there is nothing we can do to change them. We lost a dog a few years ago, and I went through weeks of what ifs, and should I, but please just remember she is reunited with her friend now and popcorning free. Hugs to you....x

Very sorry for your loss, it sounds like you were / are great to your pigs, in time you will not blame yourself and remember the good times instead of the sad. Take care xx

So very sorry. Popcorn free at the bridge little one....

Whee were so sorry to read about dear little Machete 8...8...8...
RIP Machete run free at the bridge, i'm sure you were greeted with open paws by Chipotle, enjoy nibbling on sweet dandelions and clover together and popcorning thru the lush green meadows, you'll be so very very sadly missed by your whole family but NEVER ever forgotten xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))) and lots of loves from Glynis, Velvet and Onyx xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Another little star now twinkling in the sky ................ :(

So sorry for your loss.
There's a lot of hearts on this forum that have been broken lately and we all understand the pain your in, as well as how difficult it is not to blame yourself. I think we all second guess ourselves when we lose a piglet and wish we'd done things differently/better. Please try not to blame yourself, you did everything you could for her.
I know you must be devastated right now, they leave such a huge hole in our lives. (((((hugs)))))
Rest in peace Machete and popcorn over the bridge. xxxxx

Thank you <3

It's so great to have all the support from you guys... A lot of my friends are sad but never had piggies & don't quite understand the bonds you can really get with them. I'm hugging Martini as much as possible & giving her lots of kisses. It's so difficult but at the same time like I said, I do have some sense of relief that she is not in pain anymore.

So very sorry for your loss

RIP Machete

I think as piggy mummies and daddies we all wonder if we did enough or if we did something to cause the death of one of our babies, but the truth is sometimes we never know how or why it is time for them to leave us. It sounds like you did so much to try and help you Machete but by the sounds of things she was ready to cross the Bridge.

Don't worry though because she will be met by her bestest friend and all the other piggies who have passed, so she won't be alone. Instead running free and causing chaos in the way only guineas can.

*huge hugs* and hold onto the memories and pictures. Machete will be with you forever
