My little Carl is gone!

I was up most of the night with Carl. He took a massive turn last night, almost like a stroke, and took him to the vets this morning. They did scans and xrays and found he had 5 lumps in he side and internal lumps. They said the pain he would have been in would have been why he has always bit me. He got worse the last few weeks. I got called back to the vets after lunch where we discussed what the options where. I could have agreed to operate but the chances where he wouldn't have made it through and there would still have been lumps left over so he would still have been in pain. I couldn't handle seeing him suffer so we took the best option and put him to sleep. I cried all afternoon and Eva was with me, she been great even though she's so young. I no a lot of people will have a go at me for having eva at the vets but he was taken away to another room so we weren't there and she got to say bye to him which was important to me. Lenny is lost without him but put millie in beside him to keep him company.

I am so so upset that i have lost him but i couldn't have been selfish and keep him alive while he was suffering. RIP my little man.

Oh Sarah I'm so sorry to hear this. You know your pigs best and sounds like you done the right thing to stop his suffering.

You would just pick him up or brush past his tummy and he'd bite. He was in serious pain. I can't stop crying, never thought i'd be this bad. xx
 
Give yourself time to grieve I was terrible over Cuzzy I kept saying he is only a guinea pig but they mean so much more. (((hugs))) x
 
Lenny seems to keep looking for him but is happy that mille is with him at the same time. Oh this is so so hard. xx
 
So sorry to hear this Sarah :'(. I think I joined this forum not long after you had them. You did the right thing as it would have been awful for him to suffer. Hugs to you. RIP little man, run free at rainbow bridge and look after Lenny in sprit 0:)
 
So sorry to hear this ... you were kind and caring and did what was best for Carl.
Give yourself time and you will remember the happy times with him.

I only got my boys at the start of January but he had mites and fungal and we put him being sore down to that. I have been putting off the vets visit but the last 2 weeks he just got so bad. After last night I knew it was time, I couldn't let him suffer. xx
 
Cuzzy had mites too I never noticed any lumps with him but he did suffer a kind of stroke. Perhaps genetic problems. Sad not knowing. But at least Carl isn't suffering anymore. x
 
the vet said the lumps weren't caused by the mites but would have been another issue. We just assumed it was the pain from the mites making him sore but well now we know it wasn't. I should have took him weeks ago to get this check, i just thought he was being a little brat feel terrible. xx
 
Don't blame yourself its something you can learn from. I felt the same way, there was nothing you could of done in the long run. x
 
Thank goodness you didnt prolongb his pain and loved him enough to let him go home to rainbow bridge, I'm so sorry for you though left behind, Please know he will visit you often in spirit and love you for what you have done for him, Take care x

I thought so as I joined in March. He would thank you if he could as you didn't let him suffer. Take your time to greive x

i am so sorry for your lost of carl :'( :'( :'( you had to face every pet owners nightmare of ending your furry friends suffering and to start your own. carl knew you loved him and he loved you. Thank you, it was the hardest decision to make but in a way an easy one as i couldn't let him suffer. I just cleaned them out and it was very strange not having him there. x

This is sooo soooo sad, you could not have seen this.... a sad and hard decision to make i'm glad you were able to say your goodbyes to him :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*
 
The house still feels empty without him. The piggies are now startiong to pick up again and got the first wheeks thsi morning since her left us. was nice to hear them again. xx
