My mum asked me something last night and it made me think.

My mum asked last night if the GPs eat leeks, I said no cause from what I’ve read it’s not mentioned but I thought I’d check with the posts about food here but again it’s not mentioned either in the good column or the avoid column.

So I thought I’d ask: are leeks safe for piggies or will it hurt or kill them?

As they're part of the onion family they shouldn't be fed :) I've seen people say the green parts of spring onion and leeks are ok to feed and while they probably wouldn't be enough to cause an issue, not making them sick doesn't always equal being good for them. That's why on some food lists you'll see leeks as safe, but in reality, best to avoid.

Any member of the onion family is a no no. I had to explain that to my niece who was picking from our herb garden for the piggies and wanted to feed them chives
