Hi this is my 4th pig my oh was not happy but i still dont know if i can keep her as she has always been alone, I have no idea what her age is. Does any one know why she keeps scratching her self more than normal I have checked her over she is clean. Oh and what breed is she ?

She is a beautiful sheltie! What name are going to call her?

You'd best have her checked over by a vet, but my guess is probably mites. They can easily make a comeback when a piggy gets stressed, like with a change in surroundings. As to the age, it is notoriously diffcult to age a piggy. Thickened and/or twisted toenails can indicate an older piggy.

PS: My OH wasn't happy with upping to four piggies - and that was a year and six piggies ago!

So pretty! Thats a poster pig if ever I saw one, she looks similar to my Sandy and he was very hair sore when we first got him home, nothing to see on the skin at that time however it developed into ringworm :( worth a vet check up just in case

Oh god i hope its not ringworm, cant i give her ringworm cream stuff as i dont work just now so a vet is too expensive

More likely to be mites than ringworm, take a look at Gorgeous Guineas site where it will help you identify it. If she's scratching then it's due to irritation and she'll need treatment whatever it is.

I wouldn't use anything made for humans on her, just in case it's too strong and could make her very sick.

If it's mites she'll probably need injections and it shouldn't be too expensive hopefully. But it'd really be best to treat it or else she will pass it on to your other pigs. My guinea pig got sarcoptes mites and lost a lot of fur and had painful itchy scabs all over her back. But two injections about a week apart and she got better.

She is so so so pretty btw :)

she's absolutely beautiful! hope she is ok x

She's gorgeous! Like Sophie suggested have a look on the Gorgeous Guineas website they have a list of skin problems. They also sell various shampoos and lotions to help, although can't replace veterinary treatment if it is needed. Hope whatever it is clears up soon!
