My Oxbow hay is here!

I ran out of Oxbow Orchard Grass over Christmas and it's Willow's favourite thing in the world. She popcorns every morning when she hears the hay bag.

They're on Excel Herbage Timothy Hay (with dandelion and something or other mixed in) and they seem to quite like it but it's not going down half as quick at the Oxbow!

Must get an order placed for some more ASAP or she'll be falling out with me!

Joanne, can I ask where you ordered your Oxbow from? I usually use Pampered Piggies but I'm only after hay this time round. Thanks :)

I used medicare £30 including delivery but then I found out vetuk is £25... and I use them all the time they are really good I got 4kg's so go with vetuk it'll be £25 so saving you £5 :)

They really are. I hope it works out the same with Orson - he's a live wire and seems totally uninterested in the girls. He's genuinely feisty, he bites and moves like a rat rather than a guinea pig. Regular handling isn't doing anything so far. I don't mind if he's a reluctant handler and long as the girls like him.

I know I do they are too switched on for their own good! I sold off lots of the dust free hay at a loss but I still have about 4 bags and they are HUGE. It's stalky so I can't use it as bedding in the hay lofts or they will get pokes. I gave my sister a bag for her bunnies last time I saw her - I may just do the same again next time I see her.

I order in bulk same as Laura (22.7kg) from SPH and it works out so much cheaper. They hay experts wanted £50 for 11kg but SPH has double the amount for £65 so even though it's very inconvenient to have these big boxes it's so much cheaper. It's scary how much 10 piggies can put away!

Need to look for huge sacs of the food now and save a few quid there maybe.
 
Update... When I was putting the hay out this morning, Wilma was doing laps and lots of popcorns so I guess she has gave it the thumbs up :))!

I did wonder if it was normal for mine to eat a kilo's worth of hay per pig per month... :))

I don't limit anything else, no. But perhaps they get through it quicker as they eat almost entirely out of their hay columns, which seems to interest them more than hay on the floor of the hay trays (excluding the boys, who don't have a hay column). Each column is a solid 1ft x 0.5ft hay (my brain is failing to tell me what that is in inches rolleyes), keeping these full accounts for most of the hay. They typically get through a full column of hay per day, between them all.

I've probably confused things even more now! I know I've confused myself!
