As my 3.5 year old boar, Mochi's companion died, I got another 2-month old boar to keep him company. I was surprised when Mochi bonded with him immediately. He started grooming Hani(the new piggie), sniffing his butt, and following him around. He mounted him a couple a of times, but Hani didn't protest. I have never seen Mochi be this active with Koko(the piggie I lost). I realised that Koko and Mochi never bonded as much, but Mochi immediately bonded with Hani. I'm mourning Koko, but I still feel happy that Mochi has found a playmate, and Hani a home.

I’m glad you’ve got him a new friend.

The first stage of bonding is acceptence, which has clearly happened.
Full bonding and establishing the hierarchy actually takes two full weeks of being together.

Koko and Mochi would have been fully bonded if they were living together, so please don’t worry that they weren’t.

Thank you.
I'm glad that Koko's death hasn't affected Mochi to the point of depression. May he rest in peace, and may Mochi find companionship in Hani.
