My guinea pig max seems to be part hedgehog. He always has a tuft of fur on his back in the same place. I have checked it for lumps and cant see anything, but he is always scratching it by wiggling by the side of his wood igloo.

Should I take him the vet? I am worried he may have a skin problem. I have tried to brush it down and it just sticks up again when he goes back to itching it.

Any advise?

If your unsure then take him to the vets, could we see a photo of the area you are talking about? just as he is normally and then if you can, pull the fur back and take a pic of his skin, we might be able to suggest something. Is it just the one area? Certain bedding can cause dry itchy skin, what bedding do you have him on.

It is in one area and I will take a picture and show you thanks! As for his bedding it is sawdust and hay and an old fleece.

The sawdust could be causing irritation, it can be known for drying skin out and causing dandruff, and if he tends to lay on the side where the area is it could be that.....? x
