My piggie is worrying me...not sure if hes ill.

This morning peanut was acting strange,he was in his hidey,but his fur was all puffed up,he started chattering his teeth at me quite aggressively when I went to spot clean the cage,he then tried to attack the brush...which he never does...he then turned on gizmo aggressively chattering his teeth at him.
He has been sat on his hidey all day with his fur puffed out,but strangely he is still eating,pooping...not seen him drinking yet but he's not a massive water drinker anyway.
Do you think he's ill? Or just having an off day?
I'm a bit worried because my son would be heartbroken if anything happens to him,but whilst he is still eating etc is it worth taking him to the vets yet?
He did have a bit of banana last night,but he's had banana before and was fine.

Being puffed up can be a sign of pain, particularly if he is being aggressive and that is out of character for him, then you absolutely need to have him checked out.
It’s good he’s eating etc, but piggies can go downhill quickly and can hide illnesses, you don’t want to wait until they stop eating before you look into a potential problem as by then a potential illness could have progressed a long way

I agree this is definitely worth a prompt vet check, does sound like something is hurting him if he is puffed up and not behaving normally x

I don't think I can do anything until Monday now,my vets is only on call for emergencies at the weekends...I'm just going to have to try and look after him as best I can until Monday hopefully he will still continue to eat until then.

The signs he is showing seems like something is wrong. Best thing to do is take him to the vets. Hope all is well x

It does sound like a pain response so realistically your only option is to see a vet to try and figure out what is going on. If he is eating and pooping normally then I wouldn't necessarily say that it's an emergency but that does depend on his weight. You need to start weighing him daily at the same time each day as hay makes up 80% of the diet and is impossible to monitor by eye. Any weight loss indicates that he is not eating enough and would make it much more urgent to see a vet.

Please bear in mind that if he is in pain he will not show any improvement until he is receiving pain relief. If you think he is in pain it would be worthwhile seeing the emergency vet for a prescription at the very least until you can see you normal vet if your normal vet is more experienced with guinea pigs
