my piggies are about 4-5 months old, both girls.

When i first had them they would sit still on my lap and i am guessing now that it was pure fear") .. now they completely freak out, they will eat treats from me and let me stroke them but are so so scared, one even tries to dig her way out of the lap bed like a dog would dig up a bone:{ I don't scare them getting them out of cage, i carry them in one of the tubes which is kept on my lap so they can hide, don't know what to do:(

Any tips would be gratefully appreciated:)

Aw I know this feels so horrible. It just takes some piggies a while to get used to you and being out. Have you tried different things like holding them against your chest,on your shoulder. They may like that. My Amelia Jane took a year before she would let me hold her comfortably. Them taking treats from you is a great sign. You are doing all the right things. Just be patient. :)

Sometimes it just takes time, they are prey animals so can take a very long time to get used to a situation and understand they are not in danger. With patience, a gentle voice and plenty of nummies they'll come around. Getting them used to you in general, in and out the cage, also helps.

Some pigs don't always like sitting in laps and would rather go exploring I have three that'll happily sit on my lap for hours but then two who get bored after a couple of minuites and then make it their mission to get away and go check out that very lovely bit of carpet over there :)).

Try just laying out a fleece on the floor or a bed and sit by the edge, or something lay out so your at there level, if there on a bed then just sit on the floor, let them wonder around while your there, they may just want to have a look around, my pigs were a little nervous at first, but since getting them out on the bed they now come up to my arm wich i usually rest on the bed and cuddle up next to it, well Chester does anyway, Bentley is the less dominant pig so is a bit more nervous, but you have got to give them some time and let them figure out where they are, you're very big to them so having you at eye level is always good too,
Keep up with the treats though, best way to a pigs heart is through there stomach, i used to let my pigs have there daily veg while out on the bed 'cause it meant they looked forward to coming out etc.
Also a little indoor run with little hideys is always fun i make my run out of piles of DVD's !

My pigs are both boars and about 7 months old now, i've had them for nearly 4 months, it takes time but it's worth it when you can't walk past the cage without a little pig head popping up wanting a cuddle !
Message me if you would like any more advice, I'm not sure this has been the best help, anyways, good luck :)
