I have a 3-year old girl guinea pig named Barbie and weight 1020 grams. 7-month ago, she had 2-stone in her bladder and a Ovarian Tumor. According to the vet, if i did surgery on Barbie. It would cost over $1500. and would be 50%/50% survival. After researching other forum and website, "CHANCA PIEDRA or PHYLLANTHUS NIRURI", other guinea pig owner had used this and had success with it. I use the Liquid brand called "Stone Breaker by Herbera", which I purchased at Amazon. I gave Barbie .3ml after every meal and syringe fed filter water all she could take in. After 3-weeks, No Stones and Tumor. Her gut was not good because her poop was dierrea. After I got her gut in good condition by giving her Probiotic (other guinea pig's poop stew) 3-time a day. Months later, I took Barbie to the vet and had her X-rayed. No Tumor or Stones!
Currently, I noticed Barbie stop eating anything and losing weight. Her Base Weight (empty) is 850-grams after feeding Critical Care is about 895-grams. When come time to feeding the other 13-piggies, I can see Barbie wants to eat the romaine lettuce but, hesitate. I have to syringe feed Barbie every 5-6 hours. When her base weight dropped under 800-gram, I took her to vet. This vet is a exotic guinea pig vet specialist. I had her examined and X-rayed. According to the vet, the exam found no problem in the teeth, throat, jaws, etc. Except her jaw muscle was small. X-rays also shows no problem also, except misalignment in the spine. Currently, I got her poop shape perfect with Probiotic. Her base weight average about 840-grams and she eat Critical Care with Syringe and get her weight up to average 895-grams. I notice she do consume a lot water. According to the vet the consumption of a lot water, probably from the kidney failure. Currently, I can't get Barbie to eat on her own or eat any hard food. I time to time hand feed her moisten pellet and put it in her mouth to work her jaw muscle. She only does about 6-8 pellets.
Currently, Barbie still syringe fed and after 6 week. No change in condition.
