Hi I am looking for some advice, My 5 year old female guinea pig has started tilting her head to the left, I took her to the vets and she told me barry either has a brain infection or a brain tumor as she has less sensation on one side. The vet has given her two weeks of antibiotics and will see how she is then. She is still eating and drinking the same. Is there anything else I could be doing for her? I hate to see her like this.

I am very sorry for your poorly girl. That is not a diagnosis that provides great joy. I sincerely hope that it is the first! :(

You can give your girl probiotics to bolster the effect of the antibiotics on the guts and keep her as fighting fit as possible. Weigh her daily to make sure that she is eating OK, ideally at the same time in the feeding cycle.

I have added the problem to the title to make it easier for our heavy guns to see which threads to attend to as a priority when they come on. @Pebble

It would also help us considerably if you could tell us what brand and dose of antibiotics your girl is currently on. Would you please add your country, state or (for the UK) your county/city to your details, so we can always give you appropriate advice for your part of the world straight away. Click on your username on the top bar, then go to personal details and scroll down to location. thanks!

Oh dear I'm sorry to hear this, hope she will be ok.

Poor girl, I hope too that it is an infection. Did your vet also consider an inner ear infection? My Phoebe had this recently and it did actually clear up after a course of Baytril. She was also on pain relief. Another possibility is E-Cuniculi, has she ever been near rabbits?

I can see why your vet is thinking they way they are but I think a conscious xray would help with the diagnosis.
