This is Serena. I rehomed her 2 years ago from my local RSPCA with her sister. They were just a few weeks old when i adopted them. They were called Adena and Adara but i renamed them Venus and Serena.

Anyway Serena is a special piggie because in her first winter she developed an URI. And i nursed her through the night for a week. She then went on to develop a nasty rattle which the vet has said could be a tumour in her throat. She still has a rattle and despite various medications it wont go. The vet doesnt want to open her up whilst she is still active, eating and maintaining her weight. She tires easily and always flops down like in the pic.

Anyone else have an extra special piggie?

Hiya

This my special piggy Minx (you can see why she earned that name!). First, she dropped a couple of babies on me, then she disppeared by figuring out how jump up the stairs and exploring the whole house and garden under her own steam. Later on in life she fought bravely through two bladder stone operations. She is still sadly missed!

I had a very special Piggie called Tim. He was born in a litter of only three or four but was very very tiny. Probably about 5cm long.

His Mum Lily had a slight infection, so despite having treatment and on the road to recovery wasn't keen on having her babies constantly trying to feed, so we started supplementing by hand.

Because Tim was the tiniest by far (his full name was Tiny Tim) I fed him more because his brothers and sisters always got to feed before him. The day after he was born I noticed that his front right paw was half the size it should be, and completely dried and hardened. His leg grew normally and was way bigger than his paw. I could only assume that the circulation had been cut off during the pregnancy, all of them squeezed up together. I called the vet, and was told as I suspected... It's not red, swollen, sore or wet. Best to leave it a couple of days and wait for the inevitable...

After close monitoring, bathing and a vets appointment..... Tim's foot dropped off.... We knew this was coming, the vet had checked it, and we knew there was healed skin underneath. Just like a scab dropping off a healed wound. So, his name Tiny Tim became even more apt in a way!

Tim never grew very big, and he only ever had three feet. It caused him no problems at all, and he was one of the happiest piggies ever and very intuitive. If I took him out of his hutch for a cuddle and he needed to wee, he'd cry and scream til I put him back, he'd do what he needed then come back for more cuddles. If I was upset he'd know, and nuzzle me. And they guineas aren't bright!

He was exceptional. I love all my pets equally, but he was extra special bless him. He loved being groomed sop I bought him his own special brush. But was glas he couldn't read when I got it home took it out of the packet and read that the make, all embossed in gold on the brush was "four paws" oops!

I love all my piggies but Mimsi has an extra special place in my heart. He has had a few health problems in his four years but is thriving and is my bouncing boy!
