Hi, I'm taking my guinea pigs to get their nails clipped tomorrow. Eventually I want to do this myself but figured I'd get someone to show me first. The cost is £12 per pig - does that sound about right? I ask because a couple of people have told me it will be around £5? (Which sounded too good to be true at the time and now looking like it is too good to be true!)

I can’t advice on price, perhaps you could rung around a few local vet practices, usually vet nurses do nail clipping. It’s a good idea to watch someone with experience though first. Some piggies are very well behaved other are a bit of a nightmare and won’t sit still for a second ;)

I pay around £20 for all my 4 piggies to have their nails cut at the vets but I have been a client for nearly 14 years so I'm not sure if they let me off a little. I'm sure they usually charge around £12 per pig so your quote sounds about right. You could however see if it would be a little cheaper for a nurse to do it rather than a vet?
