Hi
Can anyone give me advice on trimming piggies nails and how to know when they should be done?
thanks in advance xx

If you have a look at the top of this page there's a guide to trimming piggie's nails. Have your piggie on your lap and wrap in a towl - they tend not to wriggle so much then. Just trim the tip off you are not sure how far to trim :)

Hiya!
we have 10 piggies and trim their claws routinely every 4 weeks at least. Some of ours have black claws, we do these al little more often but take less off as you cannot see the `quick`. In case you dont know, the quick is the blood supply to the nail and in guineas with whitish claws, this can be seen so cut the claw a little above the quick otherwise it will bleed. You can use purpose made claw cutters or larger human toe nail clippers, whichever is most comfortable for you!

I've had my 2 girls for over a year and a half - Blossom always squeals her head off every time I do it. I think it's in anticipation that I'm going to do something - even although, not once I have cut right down to the quick. Daisy is always so well behaved now and she used to be a right wriggler.
