how do you know if you have to clip them? anyone have pics of bad looking ones?

I clip my piggies nails when they just begin to look to long, if their nails are urling under or they look like they are struggling to walk it is important to get their nails trimmed. Here is a link with some good images and information.

Guinea pigs' nails will start to grow when piggies are between 6-10 months old.

I seem to have to do my piggies nails all the time as they won't let me take much off each time. You will be able to see when they are getting too long and they start to curl slightly.

Just be careful not to cut them too short It's not too bad on piggies with light coloured nails, as you can see the pink quick. But it can be difficult on piggies wth dark nails.

Best just to take a little at a time if you're not too sure

only have two piggies with bad long nails when we rescued them and they made me cry when I saw them - I tend to cut mine every few weeks but only cut a bit off, as they are hard to cut and see

I clipped my boys nails today for the first time! He was such a good boy just sat there and didnt move one bit.. Cliped every one of them with no problems.. A lot easier then I thought.. wooo
