I started to call Briallen my little "chick" within a couple of days of her arrival, and the moniker has stuck to the degree that I have decided to turn it into her official name.

The Welsh word for chicken is "Ffowlyn" (pronounced like Fowlin); it's frankly much easier to say than "Briallen" (Bree-AH-khlen) and suits her personality and looks much better, in view of the thick patch of hair on top of her head and a backside that invariably reminds me of a chicken whenever I watch her trotting around (usually in the wake of another piggy)! But she has also got plenty of pluck and isn't afraid of having a go at the big'uns or having a little handbags with her age mate Telyn (second pic)! NOT a gentle little spring flower...

Well honestly I like BOTH names :)) Briallen should be her nickname :(|)

lol she does look like a chicken from behind :p

Briallen is a very pretty name, but for some reason it hasn't worked for her. :{

I'm glad that you like my furry "chicken"! ;)

I think everyone should have a 'furry chicken' :))

I was given both options on the dictionary, but for obvious reasons preferred Ffowlyn! From bad experiences, I always try the back translation as well, as with some words you can get funny results!
I don't speak Welsh myself, and my hubby and his mum have sadly forgotten most of it, but I love the language and the names!

And watching Ffowlyn walk or popcorn from behind is really cute! x)

Good decision I think. She certainly suits her new name. :(|) I quite often call my girls chicken-pigs. :))

Heh, Chicken was Mette-Marits name before, but because she was scared... I did get a little confused there, thought you had gotten yourself ANOTHER piggy! Not that you don't need one :)

It was not easy, as I love Briallen so much as a name; but sometimes names just do not work out...

I trialled Ffowlyn and Briallen together for a week and ended up with Ffowlyn.

lol in the second picture, Telyn looks so jealous of Ffowlyn's gorgeous bum :)) i can just hear her saying, "stop flashin' your big bum!"
