Just got a new member to the family, I have had her for about a week now & she is sooooo sweet. Because I work at PetSmart I have had my eye on her for a month now & finally got her! But I have no idea what to name her! Her cage mate is a black teddy named Coco. Any ideas fellow cavy lovers!?

:)p

it looks like a sock that has been cut to make holes for the arms, she would of done it for xmas or if the pig had a skin condition the sock would protect it from its own harm

She's wearing a little candy cane stripped sweater that I altered from a sock. I make little hats for them too. I like candy! My boyfriend suggested Sydney? Thanks everyone!

Yes! You got it! I also have some other little outfits for them. I know it was a little early to put her in it but we had a cold front & I just wanted a little extra warmth xx>>>

I had a piggie called Candy. I think its a wonderful name and it looks like it will suit her too!

Your not going to like what I say, even in Great Britain with our fantastic weather (ok I'm being sarcastic since we had no summer this year), I'm not aware of one forum member who dresses their pigs in clothes to keep them warm and neither do I. The problem there is they could get too hot/warm and since they don't sweat....well it isn't good. Your piggy can't tell you if she's hot or cold, but by touching their ears is the nearest for me or behaviour. there other ways of keeping them warm.

Of course you could just be doing it for novelty pigtures in which case would be fine in my opinion for a short period of time but certainly not for any length of time.
On a positive note, I think any name would suit her as she has such a cute face.

nooooooo! Clothes on a guinea pig? That's just wrong! Candy's a nice name but she doesn.t need to be dolled up like a candy cane to suit her name. Sweet enough already. Can we have a picture of her in her birthday suit please?

She didn't wear it for very long so I am sure I didn't hurt her and I would never put anything on her unless it was actually cold... which it was. I don't dress up my piggies on a daily basis but just for fun sometimes which I don't thing is wrong at all, she rather likes it. & I have spoken to other pig owners (not on this forum) who will do it just for fun :))

How cold does it get in florida?
I wouldn't think it got cold enough for a guinea pig to need a jumper, surely?

If you are worried about your little guinea getting cold, how about investing in a snugglesafe instead, that way, you can put it in the cage and she can use it if she's cold but get away from it if she's too hot? She doesn't have that choice when you put a jumper on her and might get too warm.

She's very cute, how about calling her Pop? Coco and Pop, like the cereal haha

Again I only put it on her for a very short amount of time, no worries people I would never try to harm my piggy especially considering they are so prone to heat strokes! & it got pretty chilly here close to the 40s one night, so I put it on her while she ate some lettuce on my bed and when she finished I removed it and put her in her cage again. I do love to take pictures with little clothes & hats on though :)p

I'm glad it was just temporary :)

In terms of names I do like Candy. Or 'Cristalle' to go in a theme of Chanel perfume? Coco and Cristalle? Or you could change it to Crystal.
