This is the post it has taken me a few days and more than one attempt at writing.
On Friday we lost Naomi, suddenly and unexpectedly.

She came to us in January from Merrypigs rescue and quickly settled in as a very relaxed and chilled out, confident piggy. Her favourite place to sleep was out in the open and she loved yo sleep !

With the loss of Priscilla at the end of February, Naomi established herself as herd boss.
Micah loved her and Ruth very much and was always very conscientious about his husboar duties.
This usually resulted in a lot of noise and Naomi was loud!
His love did not extend to sharing food and many a time there was a ‘discussion’ about whose delicacy something was.

She really was the most relaxed piggy and her dead fish pose was something often seen.
She was always first at the bars, doing her best to climb out for food.
She was the loudest when it came to demanding food.
She was feisty and adorable.
Naomi was stunningly beautiful with her black and gold fur.
She came to us with a lump on her tummy. Our vet did some tests and as far as they could tell it was a fatty lump and we would monitor it carefully.
Recently it became clear that it was beginning to cause her some discomfort and was rubbing as the fur was thinning noticeably.
In discussion with the vet we decided it was time to remove the lump before the skin was rubbed raw and things got nasty.
On Friday she had the surgery and the vet was happy with everything. Naomi and paw holder Ruth kept everyone amused with their chatter and in the late afternoon she came home.

She took some syringe food, sat looking bright and alert in the cage but when I went to give her another syringe feed later in the evening I discovered that she had slipped away.
Words cannot describe the shock of her loss. She died peacefully and at home.
Although we only shared her life for a few short months she created a place that was uniquely hers in our home and in my heart.
She is sorely missed.
