I have just given Velvet her weekly check and found a rather nasty looking discharge which I cleaned away very gently using a cotton bud and some warm water. I have made an appointment with the vet for 3.25 this afternoon. Hopefully it's nothing too sinister.

Fingers firmly crossed! Good that you have her seen promptly!

Poor Velvet. Good luck for this afternoon hope it’s either nothing to worry about or easy to fix.

So do I! Will report back later. I have put the cotton bud in a new tiny press lock bag and am taking it with me along with my camera so that I can show the vet.

She's her normal bright self, eating, pooping, happy with life, still hating to be picked up, maintaining weight and you wouldn't know anything was wrong apart from the discharge so that's all good news. :)

Hope everything turns out well. I feel I shouldn't mention this, because your an advanced member. Could it be out of her grease gland.

Just got back from the vet and Velvet has a uti. She is on Baytril at 0.2 ml twice a day and 0.6ml Metacam twice a day for 7 days. The vet also said I had to get more water into her. So I will be syringing in 2ml before and after each medication. I think I got her to the vet quickly just at the start of it as she hasn't been doing squeeky wees.

Poor Velvet! Piggle was just treated for a UTI but I'm not sure she hasnt got something going on with her grease gland, she's very brown and crusty at the back... bum bath tomorrow to clean her up I think so we can try see which bits have gunk coming out! Do ladies often get grease gland problems? I thought it was mostly boars, not inspected any lady grease glands before...

Poor Velvet. Healing vibes for a speedy recovery xx

@PigglePuggle sows can have overactive grease glands too. My late Eliza had an overactive grease gland x
Good to know, thanks! Piggle's grease gland has always looked a bit more obvious that the other ladies, I'll take a good look tomorrow. Should a bum bath help? And sorry @Betsy that Piggle has hijacked Velvet's thread, she does that with all the hay trays and veggies too, she's a right attention seeker...

bless her, hope she feels better soon. Lily's funky discharge cleared up quickly with antibiotics last year

You could try a bum bath and I suggest you use coconut oil on the grease gland. It should help lift the grease off

This is the look I got from Velvet this morning after yet another dose of yukky Baytril. Talk about Stink eye!

And this is the look I got after yummy Metacam. I think she wants more!

Know both those looks so well! Sending hugs and healing vibes to the lovely Velvet. Feel better soon little one.xx

Sending lots of love to beautiful velvet

Velvet says thank you.

She has just asked why she has plain water after her get better medicine when Christian had Pro-C mixed in with his water and has told her it was very nice and could she try it tonight please? Christian is a little snitch at times!

Spike agrees with Christian and thinks Velvet should have some pro c tonight. He has some everyday now he's getting older and has nasty bladder sludge, the vet said to syringe him extra fluids twice a day to flush him out and there's no way he'll swallow syringes of plain nasty water!
